Architecture, interior design, museography and Feng Shui from a holistic perspective
KATJA WERTHMANN ARCHITECTURE AND DESIGN is a studio based in the Basque Country that works from a holistic vision of space, integrating architecture, interior design, museography, Feng Shui and architectural experiences.
A way of understanding architecture
The studio’s approach is based on a key idea: spaces are not only built, they are experienced. Each project is conceived as a whole where aesthetics, functionality, sustainability and wellbeing come together to create coherent, balanced and long-lasting environments.
We work with cultural agents of all kinds: cultural associations, artists from different disciplines (music, theatre, dance, literature, etc.), public and private institutions, small and large companies, etc. Any cultural, artistic or social initiative that seeks to transform our society is welcome at Katja Werthmann Architecture and Design.
How I work
Every project begins by listening. Understanding how the client lives, works or feels is the starting point for designing spaces that truly adapt to their needs.
The process is developed in a close and collaborative way, always seeking the best solution from a strategic and sensitive perspective. Each proposal integrates all factors: design, technical aspects, economic feasibility, sustainability and durability.
- Active listening: the client and their way of life are at the centre of the project.
- Holistic vision: all elements of the space are understood as interconnected.
- Tailor-made design: each solution is unique, adapted to its context and purpose.
- Sustainability: responsible, long-lasting and efficient spaces.
- Support: continuous collaboration throughout all phases of the project.
The goal is not only to build, but to create spaces that move, function and add long-term value.
Architecture
Architecture is conceived as a balance between human beings, the environment and time. Each project aims to respect its context, respond to the client’s needs and generate a spatial experience that goes beyond functionality.
The studio embraces clean lines, clear ideas and timeless solutions, where every decision has meaning and every element serves a purpose.
Beyond design, the studio acts as a link between client and construction, ensuring clarity, coherence and solid results.
Renovation and interior design
The studio develops full and partial renovations in homes, offices, and educational spaces, understanding architecture and interior design as a single process.
Each intervention begins with an analysis of the space—light, layout, materials, and use—to enhance functionality, comfort, and the quality of life of those who inhabit it.
From small improvements to complete transformations, the goal is to create spaces that are more livable, balanced, and aligned with people.

Museography and exhibition design
The studio develops full and partial renovations in homes, offices, and educational spaces, understanding architecture and interior design as a single process.

Applied Feng Shui
Since 2007, the studio has developed museographic projects and exhibitions in collaboration with specialized teams, participating in leading spaces.
Museography is understood as a discipline where architecture, narrative, and emotion come together to create experiences. Each exhibition is a spatial story built through light, movement, scale, and materials.
The goal is not only to display content, but to create experiences that connect, move, and remain in the visitor’s memory.
Architectural tours
Feng Shui adds an additional layer to architectural design, working on the energetic balance of the space and its relationship with people.
After years of interest and specialized training, the studio integrates these principles to create environments that promote well-being, health, and harmony.
- Architecture and urbanism as cultural reflection
- History and evolution of the city
- Ways of living and local habits
- Gastronomy as part of local identity
It is not a trend, but a tool that allows for the design of more conscious spaces, where architecture is not only seen, but felt.
